It's time for a reset.....
You feel it too? Seems like New Years Eve is that magic moment when we can all say goodbye to the past and wipe the slate clean. How was your magic moment? Festive? Relaxing? Did you stay awake until midnight? I spent mine making homemade pasta (which for the record is DELICIOUS), playing games, a couple cocktails and laughing my ass off! Let's just say I needed those giggles more than I realized and plan to do even more this coming year. Of course Athena and I made it to mid

To wood or not to wood; that is the question!
So many people have complimented on the beautiful wood walls within our salon, and they are even more amazed when we explain it is all made of pallets!!! They are absolutely gorgeous and it fuels our soul knowing we were able to keep with our goal of re-purposing. But I have to be honest, the first time I heard of a "pallet wall" I was not impressed. All that kept circling my mind was crappy, old pieces of wood mounted to a wall.......ugh.....really??? Thankfully, my husband

Olaplex- why I won't work without it!
Car insurance is a must, health insurance is a no brainer, so why would the health of your hair be any different? Enter Olaplex.....insurance for your hair! I'm so confident in the abilities of Olaplex that I include it in EVERY chemical service I do. But let me break it down for you...... Hair consists of keratin proteins, of which "disulphide sulphur bonds" are a part of. During any chemical service these bonds are broken to allow for hair to be manipulated towards a certai

May Day or Mayday???
Here it is, May 1st, and we are all sheltered in place! WOW, who would have ever seen that coming? Definitely not me! This has been beyond surreal, and I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it all. Businesses forced closed, social gatherings prohibited, mask required for entrance into any public establishment. This pandemic has taken us all by surprise and stopped everything in its tracks. Not just in our town, but worldwide! And yet through the chaos, silver linings have

Titanium, Ceramic and Tourmaline...oh my!
I get asked all the time, the difference between all the hot tools, and what they are made of. All these options, each one trying to out best the other. But what exactly IS the difference and what is best for you? Lets break it down- Ceramic is a hard, brittle, clay-type material that is very heat resistant. For this reason it is perfect for preventing over-heating. In the case of a blow-dryer, ceramic generates ions, that when heated, quickens the hair drying process and re

What's in a name?
Those that are close to me, know me for my eclectic nature and quick wit! So it should come as no surprise that there is a method to my madness with all things I do, especially in naming my salon. Although, that posed way more difficult than I thought (right up there, if not worse, than coming up with a name for my children LOL). I can honestly say I went through more paper, eraser shavings and brain-power than I ever expected. Thankfully, between some endless searching and t

Don't be left behind; stay in the trend 2019
So you're looking for a new style....what to do, what to do? How about one of these looks to freshen things up? This years styles are about natural texture and soft movement. Add some blunt edges or bangs and you'll ooze confidence. Not a bad way to start the new year! Blunt Bob - whether chin length or longer, the "bob" is here to stay. What makes this one interesting is the blunt edge all the way around. Texturizing adds interest while creating a sharp base and a one leng

April showers bring.....
Water, water, and YES, more water! And although that moisture can be great after a long, dry, winter season, for many, it's just the start of big hair due to humidity! That's right, if you have ANY curl in your hair, you may be fighting a never-ending battle. Follow these handy tips to help you "humidity-proof" your hair. *The use of a smoothing shampoo and conditioner is the best prep you can do. This helps the cuticle lat flat and deflate volume from the start. * The use of

Into the new year we forge......
Each year I am amazed at just how quickly time passes us by. As I stand at the doorstep of 2019, I can't help but look back and appreciate all that has happened to date. With 2 kids out of high school, 1 entering 9th, and the littlest in Kindergarten, there have been definite shifts at home. But my biggest accomplishment this year would be the opening of my second home, Chevelure Salon. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be surrounded by people that fill my soul and a ca

A salon is born-
For as long as I can remember I have been in love with hair! So it only seemed fitting that I follow in a career that would fuel my passion. And hence, not only a dream, but a stylist was born. For over 30 years I have been blessed with a profession that helps me help others. There is no greater expression than the words- ”I Love My Hair”. In a matter or minutes (sometimes hours) I can transform a persons overall demeanor with a flick of my shears, a swish of my brush or just
